The Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB provides Child Care Subsidy to assist families with the cost of licensed child care.

The DSB will pay for licensed child care for children 0-12 years of age that live with Parents, foster parents or the child's legal guardian and reside within the Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB's jurisdiction. Families who are eligible will receive either full or partial subsidy.

Effective January 1, 2007 the Provincial Government changed its eligibility criteria for subsidy. Now, only a family's income is considered as per line 236 on their Income Tax - Notice of Assessment form. Assets are not taken into consideration. Families with adjusted annual incomes of under $20,000 per year receive FREE child care - in other words they do not have to pay a parent contribution. Families with adjusted annual incomes of over $20,000 will be required to pay a parent contribution. This amount is based on a sliding scale and is the same through out the Province.

Please contact your local office to see how much you might pay for child care - you may be surprised at how affordable licensed care now is.

The Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB also supports Family Resource Centre programs, Special Needs Resourcing Programs and provides Wage Subsidies & Enhancements to licensed providers.
