There is no provision for allergy serums under Discretionary Benefits
Participants/beneficiaries requiring EPI pens, bee sting kits or other allergen products may have them included on their Ontario Drug Benefit Card if the participant has the ”Special Authorization for Allergens (SAA)” form completed by his/her family physician prior to purchasing the medication.
The Ministry of Health may be contacted at Ontario INFO LINE at 1-800-268-1153 to inquire if certain medications used to combat allergies are included in the Ontario Drug Benefit Card.
Physicians should have a copy of the SAA form in their office. If they do not, the form may be requested from 1-888-310-9008.
