POLICY 

Authority OW Act: Sec. 2 and 8 & OW Directives: Dir. 7.2 

Each eligible participant, spouse and dependent is provided with drug coverage for each month of qualifying assistance. The drugs covered are limited to items covered under the Ontario Drug Benefit Plan. 

A drug card is automatically issued with the participant’s OW cheque, usually at the first of every month. For participants on Direct Bank Deposit, the card will be attached to the monthly income statement or payment stub. 

Drug cards are issued for one month only.

Drugs that are not covered by this Drug Card can be paid for under Discretionary Benefits. The client should request from the Doctor a suitable substitute.
