PROCEDURE

As the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services board covers a wide geographic area outside of the region of Sudbury, many services, such as Emergency Housing are located within Sudbury’s city limits, with the following exceptions: 
 

In the District of Manitoulin:

  • Therapeutic group for women living in violent relationships.

  • Emergency shelter for women & children in crisis (abuse, housing crisis, etc.), support groups
     
From all other areas, please consider referring to the following in the City of Greater Sudbury: 

Salvation Army – (705) 560-4947

  • Single males and family units with a male head of the family
  • The Salvation Army will provide emergency housing for 2 - 14 days. Staff at the Salvation Army determines the length of stay. Should the applicant/participant return to the office within the 14 day period, he should be referred back to the staff at the Salvation Army. 
     

Genevra House – (705) 674-2210 

  • Single females and family units with a female head of family.
  • Genevra House provides a Crisis Centre and Transition House for battered women in addition to providing shelter for homeless persons.
