1.1. Introduction

INTRODUCTION 

The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board is committed to the delivery of programs and services in accordance with the Ontario Works Act, and in a manner consistent with the Board’s Mission Statement. 

This manual has been written to assist Ontario Works Staff in interpreting Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB’s policies and procedures as they pertain to the Ontario Works Act, Regulations and Directives.

The Act allows for some discretion in the interpretation of legislation. To maintain equitable services, it is recommended that you become familiar with the material covered in this manual. For convenience, these local policies and procedures have been cross referenced with the corresponding Ontario Works Legislation, Regulations and Directives. 

In all situations, Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB’s policies should be used in connection with the Ontario Works Act and Directives, in order to provide the maximum allowable benefits to the participants.
