POLICY

The Manitoulin Sudbury DSB will administer local priority allocations to support child care programs in accordance with the Ontario Child Care and Early Years Funding Guidelines. Licensed centres/agencies serving children aged 0-5 that are not enrolled in the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care System (CWELCC) are ineligible for Local Priorities Funding.
 

PROCEDURE

Local Priorities allocations support the following:

General Operating Grants

  • For child care programs serving children aged 6-12

Wage Enhancement Grant (WEG) and Home Child Care Enhancement Grant (HCCEG) and CWELCC wage enhancements

  • To support wage enhancements for staff working with children aged 6-12, including CWELCC wage enhancements under the Workforce Strategy

Workforce Strategy – Professional Learning

  • Funding for professional learning opportunities for child care workers supporting children aged 0-12, in alignment with workforce development goals

Fee Subsidies

  • For families with children aged 0-12 to reduce out-of-pocket expenses for child care services

Special Needs Resourcing

  • Funding to provide services for children aged 0-12 with special needs, ensuring inclusive child care environments.

Capacity Building

  • Investments in enhancing the capacity of child care programs to support both the growth of child care services and the professional development of child care staff (for ages 0-12).

 Claims-Based Funding: Small Water Works & Territory Without Municipal Organization (TWOMO)

  • Special funding allocations to address operational needs related to small water works and child care services in unorganized territories (for ages 0-12).
