Subject: In-demand Jobs: Helping People Find Work in a Changing Job Market

Dear Employment Ontario delivery partners:

The COVID-19 outbreak continues to disrupt many workplaces across the province and has also created a demand for workers in certain industries. For instance, there is an increased demand for care providers to support Ontario’s vulnerable populations. There is also a need for temporary workers in food supply chains, including stores and distribution centres. These are just some examples of in-demand jobs.

The Government of Ontario is working with impacted sectors to help recruit for these important areas, starting with our healthcare, food, and agriculture industries.

The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development created job portals to help make it easier for people to find these opportunities. I encourage you to visit www.ontario.ca/jobs and help identify clients who can fill these roles by directing them to these positions. Encouraging and supporting individuals to apply for these roles will strengthen our workforce and ensure that the province is able to meet its present labour market needs.

While there is currently an increase in demand for jobs that are considered essential, Ontario’s job market is expected to continue to evolve. Through Job Bank, the federal government is matching jobseekers with employers. With flexible search and job matching features, Job Bank helps people find work and makes it easier for employers to recruit the workers they need. For more information, please visit www.on.jobbank.gc.ca.

I encourage you to continue to support jobseekers and employers by directing them to our government’s job portal, as well as Job Bank. I also encourage you to share information on in-demand job opportunities with clients, stakeholders, and members of your local communities.

With your support, and through Employment Ontario programs and services, our government will meet the training needs of our province's workforce. Our goal is to help people get the skills they need for the jobs they want. In the coming months, we will all have a significant role to play in Ontario’s recovery efforts.

Thank you for your support during these unprecedented times.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
