Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board (DSB) is looking for a self-motivated & energetic individual to join our industry-leading organization which works towards the delivery of high-quality services and programs to the residents of Manitoulin-Sudbury districts. Created by the provincial government, the DSB is responsible for overseeing and managing a range of services divested to the municipal order of government, including Ontario Works, Community Housing, Paramedic Services (Land Ambulance), Non-Urgent Patient Transportation, and Early Learning and Child Care Services.

Our Team

The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board is comprised of 14 board members and has been in existence for 25 years. With three main departments, Integrated Human Services, Paramedic Services, and Administration, and over 200 employees, we service a large geographical area totaling 45,000 square km.  Our organization is responsible for the development and execution of annual budgets exceeding $50 million.  We are proud to serve our communities, and we remain committed to our mission of delivering effective, fair, and safe services to our residents.

The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a driven individual to join our team as a Commander of Community Paramedicine within our Paramedic Services Department in Espanola, Ontario.

In this position, the Commander of Community Paramedicine will be responsible for the development and delivery of a district-wide CP program that is responsive to community needs, and which mirrors the vision and values of the MSDSB, and that collaborates with community partners/stakeholders to adopt emerging system designs intended to support patients and family members. 


Qualifications and Specific Skills:

Education:
Completion of a post-secondary program in health service delivery, or administration, an undergraduate degree in a health or leadership field is considered an asset. 

Experience: A minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience in a health-related industry.

Technology and Equipment:

  • Computer: word processing (MS office), spreadsheets (Excel), accounting applications and other related software used by Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB
  • Provincial databases and reporting tools, including but not limited to those used by MLTC, MOH, OH for managing clients and meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Photocopier
  • Facsimile
  • Telephone and Cellular phone
  • 2-way radio
  • GPS navigation

What you offer

  • Experience in policy development, data extrapolation and system analysis required.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial and operational report development to meet requirements set out in MSDSB policy and to ensure compliance with Governmental requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of all applicable legislation related to paramedic Services in Ontario. Acceptable knowledge of MS Office.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively deal with all levels of staff within the organization, as well as with suppliers, promoting Paramedic Services, investigating complaints/patient treatment, reporting findings to the Deputy Chief
  • Strong analytical skills to manage both simple and complex tasks and to manage resources, resolve problems to ensure continuous provision of service;
  • Versatility to adapt tactics to a constantly changing work environment due to unpredictable situations related to emergency conditions/services.
  • Ability to collaborate with co-workers, other departments and external agencies.
  • Fluently bilingual in both French and English is considered an asset.
  • Flexibility of hours and location of work may be required.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license and a reliable and insured vehicle for workplace use.

Annual Salary Range: $106,760 to $115,560
