PURPOSE

To detail issued protective equipment/devices and to inform personnel on the use.

RISK STATEMENT

Provide necessary protective equipment for the safety of the paramedics in the performance of services in various working environment.
 

PROCEDURE

Manta Helmet

The purpose of the Manta helmet is to provide the wearer with head protection and eye protection and increased conspicuity when worn at defined incidents.  
   

Use 
  1. Image of Manta helmetThe service issued Manta helmet and safety eyewear must be worn at the following incidents:
  • All roadway incidents.
  • All industrial/construction sites where approved head protection is required.
  • Fire standby events
  • Traversing through heavy foliage
  • Severe weather conditions where flying debris or elements of nature could cause injury
  • Air Ambulance landings, where debris potential exists.
  • When directed to do so by Incident Command.
  1. Image of high visibility traffic vestHigh Visibility Traffic Vest or Service issued outerwear must be worn at the following incidents:  

  • All roadway incidents.
  • Where there is more than one (1) emergency service responding
  • Where identification or conspicuity is required.
  1. High Visibility Arm Bands must be worn in conjunction with the high visibility vest when not wearing the service issued high visibility jacket.

  2. Work gloves may be indicated where there may be the potential for hand injury due to glass, sharp metal objects etc.
