G.2.4 Communication Dissemination and Unauthorized Recording

Subject: Communication Dissemination and Unauthorized Recording Policy No. G.2.4. 

 

PURPOSE 

This directive is in place to ensure the privacy and confidentiality is maintained for each patient during delivery of care, to ensure the privacy of the organization is maintained from release by personnel.
 

APPLICATION

Paramedics, Paramedic Superintendents, Senior Managers 
 

PROCEDURE

Unless specifically approved in writing by Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB, the use of any audio, photographic, or video recording devices while on duty/deployment is strictly prohibited. 

Paramedics are restricted from utilizing any personal device capable of recording audio, or video in the presence, or proximity of any patient. This restriction includes, but is not limited to, film and digital cameras, video cameras, camera cell phones, pocket tape recorders (cassette and digital) and personal digital assistants/smart phone with camera functions.

Personnel require permission from the Chief’s office, in advance, for information dissemination to the public/media on behalf of the Manitoulin-Sudbury DSB. Such permission would specify any limitations with respect to information dissemination, and in all instances, personal patient information shall not be conveyed.
