The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board in partnership with licenced child care providers are diligently working on the reopening of licenced childcare in the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board catchment.
The Ontario government announced its plan to reopen child care centres across the province on June 12, 2020. Centres in the Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board catchment will not be reopening on June 12, 2020, they will reopen once child care operators are prepared to operate, including having enhanced health and safety measures in place.
Licenced child care centres will need to make several operational changes including: Cohort ― putting children and staff in groups of 10 or less day over day;
COVID-19 response plan ― all child care settings will be required to have a plan in place if a child, parent, or staff member/provider is exposed to COVID-19;
Screening ― all staff and children must be screened prior to entry to the child care setting. Anyone feeling unwell must stay home;
Guidelines have been developed to support the reopening of child care. The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board recognizes that children are missing their child care programs and that parents are anxious to begin using licenced child care. We ask that families be patient with providers as they ensure that enhanced health and safety measures are in place prior to reopening. As child care providers have more information to share with families, they will be in contact with them.
