Full-Time and Temporary Full-Time Community Paramedics

The Manitoulin-Sudbury District Services Board is seeking highly motivated professionals to fill 2 Full-Time and up to 2 Temporary Full-Time Community Paramedic positions. 

Reporting directly to the Supervisor of Community Programs, the Community Paramedic is responsible for functioning as a Primary Care Paramedic with specific responsibilities for program and service delivery, planning and implementation of community programs, including scheduling, community educational activities, clinical responsibilities, coaching new staff, report writing and assisting with other community initiatives, peer presentations and establishing new external partnerships.

Candidates with the following qualifications are invited to apply:

  • Current certification as a Primary Care Paramedic with Health Sciences North Centre for Prehospital Care including full PCP IV certification.
  • Must meet all requirements under legislation to qualify as a Paramedic in the province of Ontario.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Adult Learning Principles and ability to communicate and educate the public in the community with respect to diseases, treatment, prevention, etc., and services provided. 
  • Valid Ontario Class “F” or higher driver’s license in good standing which meets the requirements of the Ambulance Act of Ontario.
  • Knowledge of applicable Standards, Acts, Regulations, Directives, Policies and Legislation pertinent to the job as a Paramedic.
  • Computer literacy utilizing MS Office applications and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software and RADIUS emr.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to foster a positive and cooperative working relationship with team members, allied services and other agencies and the public.
  • Ability to work outside regular paramedic shift assignments/patterns including rotating shifts, evenings/nights, weekends and statutory holidays.
  • Perform Primary Care Paramedic duties to maintain certification and remain in good standing with Health Sciences North Centre for Prehospital Care.
  • Ability to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

This position requires a results-oriented, team player that is a graduate of an accredited Paramedic program with current certification as a Primary Care Paramedic with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.  In addition to previous Community Paramedicine experience, the ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical, problem solving, presentation/instruction skills, advanced computer literacy and an ability to exercise sound judgment along with effective communication skills. 

Salary - As per Schedule B within the current Collective Agreement
