On Sunday, November 13, 2022, Wayne Warren Patrick Jacko passed peacefully at the age of 66 after a battle with early onset dementia. Wayne was born on November 26, 1955 in Little Current, ON. He was a loving and caring father, papa, brother, uncle, nephew, godfather and beloved paramedic.

Wayne was the son of Arthur Sr. Jacko and Annie Jacko (Gabow) (both predeceased). He is survived by his wife Gayle Jacko; his children Kim Jacko (Tom), Patrick Jacko (predeceased) and Sarah Jacko; his grandchildren James Gagne (Kattie), Kaidyn Gagne, Ethan Gladu and Braylon Gladu; his siblings Linda Gauthier (Dennis), Kenneth Jacko (Hilda), MaryLou Jacko; Darlene Belt (Terry), Arthur Jr. Jacko (Marida), Stephen Jacko (Kerri-Ann), Jeanette Jacko (Rene), Jacinta Manitowabi (Rudy), Marian Jacko (James), Noella Jacko (Rudy), Diane Jacko (Tim), Ben Jacko and Jack Jacko; his godchildren Chris Jacko, Ross Jacko, Vanessa Pitawanakwat (predeceased), Joseph Jacko (predeceased); good friends Ron (Toke) Manitowabi and Rudy Corbiere, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Wayne upheld Anishinaabe values and was fluent in Anishnaabemowin. He followed in his father’s footsteps of being a helper for the community. He was a long serving paramedic of the Manitoulin- Sudbury DistrictServices Board, and one of the original pioneers of Wikwemikong Ambulance Services. Wayne also worked with the Wikwemikong Tribal Police Services as a jail guard, a security guard with Cancom Security, and a Patient Transfer Attendant.

Wayne was an avid chess player; he loved yoga and tennis. Wayne was a devoted, caring and loving father, passing down the values his father taught him, to his children Kim and Sarah. He was compassionate, well-respected, and had a kind and gentle soul. Many will remember his smile, his laugh, and his serene calmness.

Family and friends will gather at St. Ignatius Church, Buzwah on Wednesday, November 15, 2022 from 4:00PM.

Funeral Service will take place at Holy Cross Mission on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 3:00PM.

Burial to follow in the Wikwemikong Upper Cemetery.
